Isa Williams is an associate professor emerita in women’s studies and founding director of the Atlanta Semester Program in Women, Leadership and Social Change at Agnes Scott College. Her research has focused on women’s leadership and factors affecting the lives of refugee women and girls in the urban south. Her publications include: “An Intersectional Model: Exploring Gender with Ethnic and Cultural Diversity”, in Journal of Ethnic & Cultural Diversity in Social Work (2001), “Refugee Women in the Urban South: Negotiating Balance Between Two Cultures”, Scripps College Andrew W. Mellon Grant (2004), “Southern Community Women Teach a New Generation Lessons of Leadership for Social Change”, Journal of Transformative Education (Summer 2006). Williams was a delegate and presenter at the United Nations World Conference Against Racism, Xenophobia and Other Forms of Intolerance, held in Durban, South Africa (August, 2001).
